Enabling transformation in an era of new technology standards, insurance reform and increased transparency.

Healthcare reform legislation is bringing unprecedented change to the nation’s healthcare system. Expanding the safety net to cover uninsured populations, increasing reporting requirements, holding providers and payers accountable and new mandates requiring Electronic Health Records and continuity of care have greatly increased demands on healthcare organizations.

Expertech, a leader in healthcare transformation and modernization, has worked with many Federal agencies to reframe healthcare strategies and embrace new technologies, while acknowledging current missions and past legacies. Afilon was selected to assist the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General’s office in developing plans to assure that critical medical needs will be met in the coming decades. Afilon brought together the U.S. Surgeon General and leaders of military medicine for the first time to explore new means of delivering healthcare in the future. This successful Afilon program quickly expanded to involve civilian agencies, universities, and major corporations, and has become a standing program under the Tricare Management Activity.

Expertech also developed an Integrative and Holistic Medicine Program to advance the treatment of traumatic brain injury for the DoD’s National Intrepid Center of Excellence. Afilon is currently working with the U.S. government to improve regional emergency medical response for mass casualty events by developing a common operating picture.

Expertech offers new ways of embracing and implementing major changes. We leverage our expertise in systems engineering and technology to assist organizations in planning and implementing more effective solutions. We support our clients in adapting to today’s complex environment, while preparing them to meet tomorrow’s evolving medical challenges – to ultimately achieve long-term success.

Enabling Casualty Management and Population Evacuation.

While there have been advancements after 9-11 and the earthquake in Haiti, many of the same challenges still exist: triaging, treating and evacuating casualties. Afilon is committed to elevate our nation’s ability to prepare, respond, recover, adapt and mitigate major disasters.

We understand the complex coordination required to successfully execute emergency response missions. We have spent time with over 50 subject matter experts across federal, state, and local organizations – public and private – to understand the policy and operational challenges that exist across boundaries.

We do this through conducting assessments to identify the gaps in policies, processes and technology for our clients. The gaps uncover inefficiencies and ambiguities – together, we work with our partners to envision the future and develop a comprehensive plan for effective emergency management. If multi-jurisdictional collaboration is required, we facilitate alignment between partners to ensure that our client’s solutions consider integration concerns across boundaries.

We have worked with the U.S. Military, State governments, large health systems and non-profit organizations to examine how they work together today and look towards implementing information systems that would provide insights and situational awareness about vulnerabilities within their communities.

We provide solutions to fit Federal, State, and Local requirements. We will work with you to consider your short term needs and long term requirements, all while following government regulations and requirements to integrate and protect your data in a secure way.

Modernizing operations to address massive reform efforts.

New programs, exacting performance metrics and transparency requirements are forcing organizations to look closely at how they execute their missions.

As a leader in business transformation, Afilon has helped modernize federal agencies and organizations who needed to incorporate new requirements or address extensive reform efforts. Remember filing taxes on paper? Afilon was a key consultant supporting the Internal Revenue Service’s Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998. Now you can file online.

Reforms require studies into current operations to understand how things are done today and how they can be done differently – more efficiently, embracing new programs and modified missions. We understand that when challenges arise, it is not only the technology, but also business processes that require updating. We leverage our experience in strategy, systems engineering and technology to execute a holistic approach to transformation.

Afilon’s footprints can be found in speedy tax returns, precise air force jets, and command and control operations for emergency response. We create architecture designs that are flexible and consider short-term needs and long-term requirements. We also ensure that other vendors align services and solutions into the new architecture.

Keeping pace with emerging technologies to best serve our clients.

More data, more integration, more demands! Keeping up with the rapid pace of technology can be difficult. But it doesn’t have to be.

As a leader in technology, Afilon has helped organizations bring their technology up to date. People expect greater access, faster response times and instant feedback. We can help.

Afilon’s footprints can be found in assessments of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) applications or the design and development of mobile applications. We implement solutions - from the simple to the complex - that are flexible and consider short-term needs and long-term requirements.

The Afilon Technology Lab (ATL) offers clients a central facility to oversee the selection of new tools and emerging technologies. The ATL provides economies of scale to test technologies in different environments.

Our teams of technologists have the ‘know how’ and experience to design, build and test prototypes and prepare products for integration. We create and inspect innovative products to meet stringent standards – ensuring that technologies meet client expectations and public demands.

The ATL also hosts Afilon sponsored research to solve critical problems for our clients, through our Innovations Group.
